Today, Jack Oliver is a Care Worker. During the current global pandemic, he offers his precious time to the elderly and those in need of assistance. But prior to the current health crisis, Jack Oliver invested over a decade of his life and passion to the Artistry of Make-up. His transformative, creative expression transgresses many fields of industry; art, drag, beauty, fashion and theatrical fantasy. “My work” he tells us, “ranges from rather simple constructs to more mind provoking images. I enjoy creating self-image as a way of expressing emotions of the Self. I previously titled a lot of my work SELFart.”
Oliver has been hugely inspired by the creative duo Fecal Matter (@matieresfecales) from Canada, and being graced with meeting them in person on a few occasions, they gave him hope during times in his life when he had seen no light.
“I have spent many years working in Drag, hosting club nights and parties. The people I have met along my travels have always inspired me to keep creative.”
RIOT MATERIAL celebrates the work of Jack Oliver as he now spends his time together with those who work hard to assure we can all be safe in the current world we live.

Below, Jack speaks to individual works:
This one is to keep us all knowing that we can smile even in darker times.
My Beautiful Grandmother & I created this image together to bring joy to all those who are also isolated during this pandemic. Please don’t forget about our elders and pick up the Phone, FaceTime or even a Makeup Brush, in our case. Let’s do our part and keep creativity and hopes high in these hard times!

Layers of cream texture and oils used on latex face mask to create a smooth surface.
Emotionless and fragile state of mind when thinking about creating new content for social media…
this was the result.

After a long weekend and not being able to sleep, comes this image of sleeping powder.

This speaks a lot for itself as an imagine of branding, using makeup, while being a slave to fashion.

Flipped image and painted makeup; it was a fun image to manipulate and make interesting to look at. I have always struggled with facial features and recently, having undergone septorhinoplasty, I have started to notice change in my makeup application.

A gift from Fecal Matter, this image was created through my love of the more provoking work.
